Emergency RRVs help rebuild line at Dawlish

SCOPE

In February 2014 the UK rail network was hit by the weather like never before. After an already wet winter, the wind and the rain threw up storm seas unseen for decades, causing the sea wall at Dawlish to be breached and finally collapse.

TRS received an emergency call out to send a machine and POS team to site in order to start clearing up the storm damage.

Duration:
5 Months

Client:
TBC

PROJECT

Within four hours we had our first road rail vehicle and POS team on track and ready to get to work. The project then rapidly escalated into multiple RRV machines for major works as the situation deteriorated, with the job running for 5 months and over 10000hrs – 24hrs a day, in all conditions.

OUTCOME

Our team remained on site for the following 12 months, working nights and weekends to get the line back up and running.
